Bio
Born to a merchant caste family, Ruhan was recognized at birth as one extremely gifted in the manipulation of aether. Taken from her family as a young child, she was granted the caste of priest and trained by the mystics of her tribe in their holy magics. A naturally rebellious spirit, she was innately drawn towards their far darker arts, the manipulation of life and voidsent, Necromancy.Never truly accepted by those born into the upper castes and shunned by her tutors for her interest in necromancy, Ruhan's only companion was her older sister, who would share stories of her travels to distant lands. When it was discovered that Ruhan's sister had returned from a merchant voyage pregnant with a Hingan man's child, she was put to death for her defiance of their laws.Distraught over the loss of the only person who cared about her, Ruhan took revenge by murdering her tutor and stealing away from the village with her sister's remains. Eventually the necromancer would find her way to Kugane, bitter, alone, hunted by her tribe as well as several steppe nomads, and so she abandoned Othard for Eorzea, where she might be afforded the privacy she so desired to pursue her work.
The Narhgol Tribe
The Narhgol are renowned even among Xaela tribes for their fierce isolationism and austere, backwards traditions. One of few tribes to give up the nomadic lifestyle in favor of permanent settlement, they have settled in the mountains north of the steppe. No Narhgol tribesman is allowed to leave their ancestral grounds, with the lone exception of the merchant and warrior castes who may leave only with explicit permission from the elders.The Narhgol maintain a rigid class system, with social mobility being all but unheard of outside of extremely special cases. They employ a highly complex system of body markings, tattoos, scarification, and piercings as a means to indicate caste, accomplishments, and social status.
